Bitcoin Pizza Day
Laszlo Hanyecz bought two pizzas for 10,000 BTC, recorded as Bitcoin's first real-world purchase.
Programmer Laszlo Hanyecz posted on the BitcoinTalk forum offering 10,000 BTC to anyone who would order him two pizzas. A user in the UK ordered Papa John's pizza on his behalf, and the trade went through. The 10,000 BTC, worth about $41 at the time, is now worth well over a billion dollars. May 22 is now celebrated every year as 'Bitcoin Pizza Day.'
