As the speculative bubble burst, the price fell by more than 80% within a year.
A combination of unfulfilled promises from ICO projects, tightening regulation worldwide, and collapsing market confidence drove Bitcoin down to $3,200. Exchange trading volume also fell more than 80%. However, infrastructure development such as the Lightning Network accelerated during this period, laying the groundwork for the next cycle.
