Tesla buys $1.5 billion in BTC
Elon Musk's Tesla added Bitcoin to its balance sheet.
Tesla disclosed in an SEC filing that it had purchased $1.5 billion worth of Bitcoin and temporarily allowed vehicle payments in it. This marked the peak of a trend of public companies holding BTC, led by Michael Saylor's MicroStrategy. However, when Musk suspended payments in May citing environmental concerns, it also became the trigger for a short-term correction.
